Solar Volanta

Although the Volanta pump is generally operated by hand, it is also possible to have it powered with solar panels for easy and cheap pumping up to 5 m3/day with 6 panels. The Solar Volanta can be installed ona borehole or on a dugwell. In case of a dugwell, up to 4 Volanta's with more panels can be installed on the same well, increasing the total yield per day to 20 m3/day.

The Volanta can pump the water into a reservoir up to 5 m high for storage and further distribution to individual water taps..

This option is especially recommanded for hospitals,
schools and small scale irrigation.

Other mechanical options are also availbale, like for instance a small reliable Lister diesel engine with low operating costs for up to 40 m3 per day. In case the powered supply temporarily fails, the Volanta can always be manually operated.
